What We Test For
Because matcha is consumed as a finely ground whole-leaf tea, selected products and batches are assessed for specified pesticide residues, heavy metals and microbiological parameters. The precise scope, methods and findings are listed in each laboratory report.
Pesticide Residues
A wide pesticide residue panel is tested to verify the cleanliness of the lot.
Heavy Metals Testing
Tested for metals such as arsenic, cadmium, lead, mercury and tin, with results checked against applicable food-safety limits.
Microbial Safety Testing
Checked for common microbial parameters, including E. coli, Salmonella, yeast, and mold.
Antioxidants Report
Checked for the ORAC (Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity) to confirm the antioxidant potency.

What does “independently lab tested” mean?
It means the identified product sample was submitted to an external laboratory that is separate from Heapwell. The laboratory tested the sample for the parameters listed in the relevant report. The result applies to the submitted sample and the product or batch information recorded on that report.
What does NABL accreditation mean?
NABL accredits laboratories for defined testing scopes, methods and capabilities. It does not mean that every test offered by a laboratory is automatically covered. Individual Heapwell reports should be read according to the scope and accreditation details printed on that specific report.
Are the reports specific to a product and batch?
Yes. Each report applies to the sample submitted and the product, batch or other identifying details shown on the report. A report for one Heapwell matcha should not automatically be treated as covering every other product.
Can cafés and procurement teams request documentation?
Yes. Café, hospitality, retail, and procurement teams can request available laboratory reports and product documentation for the matcha they are evaluating.
